Message From The President

Forty years ago, three local businessmen, troubled by a lack of charitable dollars flowing back into southern Ashland County from the annual United Way campaign, formed the Mohican Area Community Fund.  These men, supported by other civic and business leaders and philanthropic-minded residents, created the basis for today’s MACF.

The mission of MACF is similar to the better known United Way of Ashland County in that we, too, raise funds from our community to help underwrite and support the operations and growth of more than 20 local charities and other nonprofit organizations in the Mohican area.  Generally regarded as encompassing the communities of Loudonville and Perrysville, MACF also serves adjacent townships in southern Ashland, Holmes, Knox and Richland Counties.

Today, as was true in 1975, funding for MACF comes through pledges and donations made from local businesses, individual, foundations, service, civic and fraternal organizations during our annual campaign conducted from July to December.  MACF has, however, evolved to become a partner agency of the United Way of Ashland County which provides administrative support.  Efforts now include various fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Our 15-member Board of Trustees – all unpaid volunteers – is comprised of individuals from all walks of life who come together to support our common mission.

If you are an existing donor, we thank you for your past support and urge you to continue.  If you have just discovered MACF, we encourage you to investigate the rest of this website and get to know the many organizations that your donations could benefit in the future.  Remember…hometown charity starts here!

With a Mohican heart,

Jane Stoops

Past President
